While in Washington we were able to address political decision-makers, in New York, the world's leading stock exchange, we were able to welcome a large number of financial players and highlight the importance of financing the transition to a low-carbon society!
The conference co-hosted by our partners Hy24 and John Cockerill, "Financing the US Hydrogen Momentum", gathered 130 leading financial players around our vessel! Mobilizing the financial community is essential if we want to make the essential energy transition to a more sustainable future a concrete reality.

It's because it's a way of bringing together the energies of a wide range of actors, all of whom have a "skin in the game", as we say, with interests at play that make it in their interest to see things move forward or create a snowball effect. This snowball effect is beginning to take hold, but it's fragile. We really need to secure the way we finance and support this transition sector, which is critical for the future. In other words, we need to move from a model where we support fossil fuels to one where we support green energies. And this is not yet completely in everyone's mind, especially in the US.”

Our participation in the Earth Day Initiative was a great opportunity to listen, inspire and inform visitors about our concrete solutions. In the beautiful New York sunshine, our stand also enabled us to offer boat tours to the public!

Energy Observer gave a conference at Columbia University!
Luc Bourserie and Beatrice Cordiano, our onboard engineers and scientists, had the opportunity to talk about the challenges of the energy transition in the maritime sector to an enthusiastic student panel at the prestigious university. Two presentations also took place in New York schools.

The United States may be the world's second biggest CO2 emitter, but it's also where many solutions are being developed. New York is on its way to becoming the world capital of climatology! The city is investing to create a climate innovation ecosystem around three hubs, one of which is located in the former Brooklyn Navy Yard. Our production team went there to shoot a video of the event.

A special Earth Day
April 22, 2024 was the last day of our stopover, and also Earth Day, which we were lucky enough to celebrate live on NBC News! Several million Americans were able to discover our catamaran and its technologies in a live broadcast. The day continued at the New York Stock Exchange, where the team was invited to attend the bell ceremony announcing the closing of the stock markets at 4pm. A powerful symbol for this stopover focused on clean energy financing. Finally, we climbed aboard Energy Observer to admire the panoramic view of the skyline from Manhattan Bay. A magical moment.
